The Drive to Conway, New Hampshire (The Granite State):
Before our trip, I had to do some research of course! The Granite State received its name due to its wide-ranging formations of granite, but the part that I found the most baffling, was that New Hampshire also has 3 more names! "The White Mountain State", "Mother of River", and "Switzerland of America" are other titles for this wondrous destination! Thrill rushed through my veins, and I could feel adrenaline pumping through me. I couldn't wait to leave New Jersey once again and make some more memories. My smile was wide as I sat in the car, and we were all ready for an exciting ride.
North Conway Downtown:
One of the first activities my family and I encountered was visiting the North Conway Downtown. Boy, was it a sight to see! There were so many shops and people; plus the weather was gorgeous. The mountains on either side of the street were simply magnificent. I would highly recommend this beautiful town to anyone! It was a great place to stop and get some coffee, snacks, and souvenirs. There was also a marvelous antiques store that was truly one-of-a-kind. This was a great way to kickstart our travel!
Echo Lake State Park:
This state park is in my books of the most beautiful parks in America. I was simply out of words at all the sights of Echo Lake with mountains towering all around. The park has multiple different hiking trails of varying intensities for anyone and everyone to enjoy! I walked along the Echo Lake Trail, which was about a one-mile trail around the spectacular lake. It was a very easy, flat walk with amazing views and photo opportunities. I hope that everyone will one day have the opportunity to be able to experience the thrilling views of Echo Lake!
Cathedral Ledge (Bryce Path):
Cathedral Ledge is a must-go if you find yourself in Echo Lake State Park. We drove up to a parking lot at a higher elevation than the base of the mountain, and took the Bryce Path hike towards the ledge. The views were utterly astonishing, and I would go a second time any day! We walked along the bare rock face of the mountain, and had to be extremely careful as to not fall off, but every step was worth it!
Conway Scenic Railroad:
Another fun excursion my family and I took was the Conway Scenic Railroad tour, which is a train tour that ranges in distance and time depending on which one you book. We took the Barlett-Sawyer excursion Train which was a two hour round-trip with multiple photo moments of the Attitash Mountains and the Saco River! It was so fun learning about North Conway’s history and admiring the views throughout the entire ride; this was definitely worth the two hours!
