Exploring the Granite and Pine Tree States - Part 3

Drive from New Hampshire to Bangor, Maine:

This next drive marked the halfway point of our trip, and we were all excited for what the future held. It took us about 3-and-a-half hours and the scenery did not disappoint! So many beautiful mountains and trees, - and occasionally- we saw spectacular lakes and ponds!

Bangor City Forest (East-West Loop) & (Bog Boardwalk)

To start off our stay in Bangor, we explored the Bangor City Forest by walking along the East-West Loop which is a woodsy, scenic, roughly 4-mile trail that’s perfect to get a feel of the forest and take in the nature! Along the East-West Loop, there is a Bog Boardwalk which is a fantastic 1-mile detour that takes you on a boardwalk above marshlands. The views were impeccably amazing, and I highly recommend these trails for anyone in the area who wants to enjoy an easy but scenic walk!

Acadia National Park

This was the beginning of a great adventure at Acadia National Park in Maine. It is a forty-seven-thousand-acre park with gorgeous views and exciting animals. It is known for its stunning sights, wonderful trails, and scenic drives. For anyone visiting Maine, stop by the park and you'll find yourself with endless things to do!

Park Loop

Park Loop Road is a drop-dead gorgeous, 27-mile road, which is the must-do event for anyone in Acadia National Park. It’s a drive through the east side of the park which connects to many lakes, mountains, viewpoints, and multiple trails! This is definitely worth the hype as it leads you into the park and gives you an opportunity to explore on foot, biking, or driving! You can also take a park shuttle-bus which drives on the Park Loop Road and stops along the route at designated bus stops for the riders’ convenience!

Precipice Trail

A notorious trail meant for the more experienced hikers and those who don’t fear heights, the Precipice Trail is definitely a great one. It was one of the most adventurous trails I had ever stepped foot on. The views of the bay were stunning, and the height at which we were at was thrilling. Throughout the trail, there were many rocky areas that required decently good hiking shoes to safely travel on. Plus, there were streams of water flowing occasionally that led the path to be slightly damp at different points. There were also iron rungs sprinkled throughout the trail which added to the entire experience!

Sand Beach

A great place to get to on a hot day, you can put your feet into the water of Sand Beach in Acadia National Park! Though, the water of the Atlantic Ocean is always too cold to comfortably swim in for most. From Sand Beach, you can see many different go-to spots like Otter Cliff and the Ocean Path! Spectacular views of the water meeting rocky cliffs and forested land are all you will get at the one-of-a-kind Sand Beach!

Ocean Path

A mostly flat, easy walk that’s perfect for families and pets! It’s a walking trail along the ocean that leads to the Otter Cliffs, and provides marvelous views along the way. It is a 0.7-mile walk one-way, so most people walk a little part of it and take pictures they’ll remember for a while. This is, for sure, a go-to trail in Acadia!
